Lucy McLellan, LPC, LCAT, RDT/BCT
Lucy is a drama therapist and professional counselor with extensive experience of supporting trauma-affected individuals and communities. Lucy began her clinical career in NYC, facilitating drama therapy groups with diverse trauma populations, including survivors of domestic violence and commercial sexual exploitation. Lucy currently lives in Madison, WI where she works as a professional counselor, focusing on complex trauma. Lucy is driven to explore the intersection of culture, identity and adverse life experiences, in particular the impact of gender-based sexual and physical violence.
Lucy's love of creativity and her hands-on understanding of the capacity of the arts to bring about healing and transformation is central to her therapeutic philosophy and skill set. Alongside her creative arts therapy tools, Lucy draws on her training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and an evolving desire to fold mindfulness into the practice of trauma-informed care. Lucy has a long history voluntary service with the North American Drama Therapy Association, currently saving as Membership Chair and has held a role on the Ethics Committee for 10 years. In 2017, Lucy served as an advisory board member for Sesame Street in Communities, providing guidance on play-based and creative materials produced as part of Sesame's "Traumatic Experiences" initiative.
