About

“Your story is our story…”

The Midwest Drama Therapy Training Institute provides Alternative Training students in the Central Region with accessible and affordable educational opportunities with outstanding Midwest faculty mentors.

We offer a faculty comprised of Board Certified Trainers (BCT), and allied professionals, who are currently working and teaching in the Midwest. These mentors are uniquely positioned to offer students an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the resources and networking opportunities in the part of the country where they hope to provide services.

While traditional, University-based Masters programs offer a sense of community and collegiality through an established cohort training model, AT students can often feel isolated and in need of greater support. MDT provides students with ongoing support throughout their training and facilitates the development of and transition into their professional roles.

If you are living and working in an underserved, or rural area, you can feel an additional challenge to your sense of connection to the larger Drama Therapy Community.  Our model includes opportunities for community beyond time spent in the classroom.

By providing Central Region AT students with training opportunities closer to home, you’ll develop a relationship with colleagues who can help mentor your career, connect you with local training opportunities, and welcome you into a community of like-minded artists-clinicians.

Our Commitment to Diversity

Midwest Drama Therapy (MDT) is committed to creating and maintaining a learning environment that is inclusive of all.  As we commune as trainers and learners, we value diverse traditions, heritages and experiences and recognize the rights of all individuals to experience acceptance and mutual respect.  As drama therapists engaged in the dissemination of knowledge and skill, we are committed to a training ethos that is built on dignity, fairness, caring, equality and self-esteem.
